MACorps is an army of volunteers ready to deploy in the service of the club's community. In addition, a number of the club's committees hold donation drives throughout the year.
Community Donations
Operational policy O-37 is designed to ensure the club is supporting local organizations whose work is aligned with MAC’s mission, vision, values and goals, and imperatives described by the Club’s strategic plan. The intention is to contribute to the community while increasing oversight, maintaining fiscal responsibility and being conscience of resources and staff time.
MAC does not make monetary donations. MAC may offer In Kind donations. Examples of donation requests include but are not limited to:

MAC Winter Warmth Clothing Drive
Annually in December
Rose Haven volunteers Victoria Siegel (standing) and Illiana Scuring pick up boxes from MAC's "Winter Warmth" clothing drive. Members of the club donated three over flowing boxes of warm coats, hats, scarves, gloves/mittens and blankets to Rose Haven, a day shelter and community center serving women and children of all ages, regardless of need.
MAC Basketball Committee
November
Basketball committee donated $500 out of special funds to New Avenues for Youth during the breakfast volunteer event.
Sprucing up the Goose
November
The Walking and Hiking Committee neighborhood clean-up produced some impressive results. Two dozen participants ranging in age from 16 to 80-plus years removed 38 bags of garbage, totaling a whopping 600 lbs. of trash taken off the streets. Special thanks to Walking & Hiking Committee Chair Laura Foster for organizing, Neighbors West Northwest for litter lifters, SOLVE, and the club for providing refreshments, safety gear and trash disposal.
Neighborhood Clean Up
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Each year, on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, MAC volunteers scour the Goose Hollow Neighborhood cleaning up trash and debris. This event, held in cooperation with SOLVE and the Goose Hollow Foothills League, is one of the club’s most popular community outreach activities.

MAC Junior Events Committee
July 2019
Members of the Junior Events Committee gave back to our community by volunteering during lunch service at the Blanchet House. Jenny Robinett, MAC’s Youth Programs Manager, joined Morgan Miller, Dillon Garg, and Christine Elliot (pictured) in the effort.
KGW School Supply Drive
ANNUALLY IN AUGUST
Our second annual MAC School Supply Drive resulted in four bins of school supplies for area students. With MAC and our Goose Hollow neighbors, we topped last year's donations for the KGW School Supply Drive that will help 12,000 students in 45 school districts be ready to learn when school's back in session.
MelloMacs and Balladeers
Various Appearances Year Round
The MelloMacs and Balladeers are the MAC’s enthusiastic and talented choirs. The former is the club’s co-ed singing group, while the latter is made up of all-male singers. Combined, these two groups make over 20 appearances at various community organizations throughout the Portland-Metro area including assisted living facilities, VA hospitals and St. Mary’s Home for Boys.
Red Cross Blood Drives
Annually July/August
For the second year, the club teams up with the Goose Hollow Neighborhood for the KGW School Supply Drive. Last year, three overflowing boxes were donated with pens, paper, glue, scissors and crayons—all the things a child needs to perform at school. The drive exceeded its goal and estimates enough supplies were gathered to serve 14,000 area students.
Portland Rose Festival
Annually May to June
Throughout its history, MAC has been a big supporter of the Portland Rose Festival. After building the Civic Stadium in 1926 (later sold to the City), the club hosted the Rose Festival Parade for several years. More recently, the club’s main facility has welcomed the Rose Festival Princesses luncheon and Fleet Week sailors who enjoy full access to the club during their brief annual stay on Portland’s waterfront. Here, Mayor Ted Wheeler officially greets the officers and crew.
Oregon Food Bank Fundraiser
Annually
Each year, the MAC All Committee Dinner raises funds for the Oregon Food Bank. Here, MAC Swim Team Pre-Senior and Senior members take that community giving a step farther by working a shift at the food bank sorting and preparing food for citizens in need.

Annually
MAC hosts local, regional, national and international athletic events from high school competitions to world championships. The club also makes its facilities available to sport teams from local schools and sports organizations such as the Lincoln High School Water Polo Team pictured here.

Goose Hollow Business Association
MAC is an active member of the Goose Hollow Business Association, The Stadium Business District, and the Goose Hollow Foothills League (GHFL). Every year the club participates in the beloved Goose Hollow Days Street Fair, which has included flash mobs by MAC dancers, performances by the MelloMacs and Balladeers, and an informational booth with fun, and free giveaways.
